Continuing up the grade of the old Buffalo, Bradford, & Pittsburgh RR (Erie Branch) you will come to a “cut."  A cut is an area of the line where the workmen would have to dig through both sides of the hillside to maintain the proper level grade of the line. 

 


             Along the way, old railroad artifacts can be found - including coal, spikes, rail plates, and hooks. The rail plates and hooks kept the iron rails attached to the ties (sleepers).
